Burundi Photo Journal
Come view Mike Seymour’s photo presentation of the home-building for Burundian refugees being done in the Carama District of Bujumbura Province, Burundi, just outside the capitol city of Bujumbura. The non-governmental organization—Youth in Reconstruction of the World in Destruction—is a peace-making organization that began this work in 1994 bringing the conflicted sides, both Hutu and Tutsi, together to reconcile, forgive and learn to live together again through rebuilding homes. This presentation also tells about the program connecting schools and students in Burundi and USA through the AfricaAmericaExchange. Fourteen schools and about 700 students in Washington State are paired with an equal number of schools and students in Burundi, following parallel curriculum around peace and a better world.
