About The Heritage Institute

The Heritage Institute offers professional development for K-12 educators through online and distance courses. Continuing education quarter credits are available through Antioch University. Antioch CE credits are acceptable in most states for recertification and in most school districts for salary enhancement.

My name is Kelly Simpson and I am an English Language Development (ELD) teacher at Hazelbrook Middle School in Tualatin, Oregon. I was fortunate enough to be one of the first teachers to take the “Be the Change” course through Heritage Institute. I was searching for a class that would give me ideas on how to positively engage pre-teens in their own community and the world around them, and hopefully deter them from getting into gangs and/or dropping out of school.
