I am Tara Branham, and I am a middle school teacher of a mixed age classroom consisiting of 6th-8th graders at Sunnyside Environmental School in Portland, OR. I have been on a sabbatical this school year and am spending it on Maui, volunteering as an environmental activist and community educator. While in Maui I documented my volunteer activities through the Heritage Institute self-designed World We Want online course, which provided opportunities for relevant reading, research and development of lesson plans.
