In this course, participants will work directly with the inherent relationship between service learning and research and evaluation through examining the five stages of action research: topic selection, original research design, data collection and analysis, formulation of conclusions, and dissemination of results. This course will provide a forum for participants to gain understanding of the development of the theory and practice of action research, explorations in the philosophy and methodology of action research, and considerations of the nature of quality in action research practice. Participants will come away from this course with the tools, templates and resources to develop and implement their own action research and evaluation project.
