Kandinsky Circles-Art Lesson Plan  Grade Level: K-3 Rational This art activity is set up to insure success for all participants. Each child gets to contribute to a whole class art project, so inclusion is built in. Learning Objectives Discuss and reflect with peers about choices made in creating artwork. Experiment with various materials and tools. Collaborate and cooperate in making a larger piece of artwork. Materials 8 by 8 white squares of paper Oil pastels Pencil Paper towels Wet wipes for clean up Samples of Kandinsky Circles Activity 0. Each child receives 1 piece of paper, oil pastels, and paper towels 0. Discuss how colors compliment or contrast each other-model 0. Have student pick around 8 colors that they enjoy and place them in the order that they choose to use them 0. Start in the center and make a circle of any shape. Continue making circle around the previous circle until you have made 7-8. 0. Color in the first circle with the chosen color. Continue that with each remaining circle until all are colored. Color the remaining white on the square to the very edge of the paper 0. With a paper towel demonstration how to blend oil pastels 0. Once all the individual pieces are complete glue onto white butcher paper and hang up Wrap-up Pair the children up and have them find their individual squares. They can explain to their partner why they chose the colors they did. Have the partners thank each other for contributing to the classroom art. Reflection Identify which students struggled following directions, cooperating, and saying thank you.
